Road Atlanta, Georgia, USA. (6th November 2011)
Formula race cars built by Ralph Firman Racing swept to dominant victories in both the Formula Continental and Formula B races at the American Road Race of Champions at Road Atlanta, Georgia last weekend.
Glenn Cooper drove his Firman RFR F1000 to claim victory in Formula B, while Robert La Rocca dominated to win in Formula Continental in his Firman RFR F2000.
Qualifying second, Cooper managed to scramble past pole sitter and 2010 SCCA National Champion, Brandon Dixon in his Citation, at the start of the Formula B race. From there he never relinquished the lead and went on to take a commanding win whilst also setting fastest lap at 1.23.593 more than a second faster than his nearest competitor, and this despite dealing with adverse track conditions resulting from a slippery surface.
La Rocca dominated in his RFR F2000 car in Formula Continental for the entire race weekend completing a hat-trick of pole position, race win and fastest race lap. Setting a pole time of 1.27.61, he was more than a second quicker than his nearest competitor, and in the race he easily outpaced the field of Formula Continental competitors to win easily.
Cooper and La Rocca's double wins duplicate Firman Cars twin victories at the SCCA June Sprints held at the Road America circuit where Niki Coello and Bill McLaughlin Jr. took the wins in FC and FB respectively,
